DTN Closing Livestock Comment 10/21 15:51
Cattle Struggle to Muster Support While Hogs Successfully Close Higher

It was a lackadaisical day for the cattle complex as traders allowed both
the live cattle and feeder cattle contracts to drift lower through Monday's end.

GENERAL COMMENTS:

It was a slow and lethargic day for the cattle complex as traders paid
little attention to the cattle market, but the lean hog complex successfully
closed slightly higher as consumer demand helped encourage traders. But with
the monthly Cattle on Feed report set to be released on Friday, the cattle
complex is more skeptical. December corn is up 4 3/4 cents per bushel and
December soybean meal is up $2.70. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down
344.31 points.
